Work by dozens of Albuquerque Academy artists has been recognized by the New Mexico Art Education Association (NMAEA), in conjunction with the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and will be shown at The Orpheum Community Hub beginning January 31 through March 1. Gold and silver key pieces will be physically displayed; honorable mention works will be displayed digitally due to space limitations.
Over 185,000 works of art and writing are annually submitted in numerous categories by teens in grades 7-12 nationwide. Each year more than 1,500 receive national awards and are celebrated on stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
NMAEA has locally partnered with agencies such as the Public Education Department, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Warehouse 508, the Orpheum Community Hub, and the African American Performing Arts Center to exhibit and recognize the talents of New Mexico’s top art students for the past 12 years.
